Dominion energy Reports & Reviews (59)

I was told my resume was pulled off of linked in.. I was offered employment and told I need to deposit a check in my account for office equipment.

I received an automated call that stated I was receiving my final warning before a technician came to shut off my power. I was prompted with an option to speak to a representative, which I did. It connected me to a well-speaking person who asked that I verify my service address and last name, which I did. I was told that my last two payments for billing were not received, and was asked to provide confirmation numbers for payments. I provided confirmation, amounts, and dates of payment to the individual. The individual stated that they had been providing me with notices, to which I stated that this was the first notice of non-payment given to me. I then asked the individual to confirm the billing address, to which he provided a partial of the address. I asked him to confirm the apartment number, to which he replied to give him a moment, and the line disconnected. Not only was the robo-call convincing, but the subsequent live “representative” was up until confirmation was requested.

On 03-24-21 I received the following scam message left on my home landline voice mail: "Greetings. This is an automated message from the disconnection department of Dominion Energy Electricity Company to inform you that you be experiencing a disconnection of service today within 30 minutes due to non-payment on your account. Please press one to speak with a representative. Thank you."

My caller ID identified the call as coming from 843-322-4399 (Beaufort, SC). My account was current, and no payments were missed. I did not return the call.

Called my company stating I owed 1,498.21 from Dominion since December. Threatened to cut off my electricity in an hour if I did not pay through the phone and not online.

I was called by someone who claimed to be a representative for Dominion Energy. He said that they were shutting off power to my apartment in 24 hours because my account had an ‘unpaid deposit for a smart reader that was installed’. I told the person my online account shows that my bills are paid. He then transferred me to a ‘case manager’ to discuss the pending disconnection and I could file a claim. I asked him if there was anything I could do to prevent power being disconnected for my apartment. When he mentioned ‘cashapp’.. that is when I realized it was a scam. I could see other people falling for this. Very scummy.

Caller ID said call was from Dominion Energy. When answering, was told that our January utility bill had not beed paid and electricity would be turned off in 40 minutes. I told them it had been paid by check. He asked for our address and the account holder. After providing that info, he said they had not received the check. I said that the check had cleared the bank per bank statement. He said he could transfer me to another representative if I wanted to appeal the finding. I agreed. the next agent said we had also not paid Nov and December bill. He said we could make a payment to keep our power on while they investigate the problem which should be resolved by Thursday at which time I would be reimbersed. I said that I would not do that and asked what account number did they have on file. He gave me a number which was not my number. I told him such and said this was a scam. He hung up. About 30 minutes lated, we received anohter phone mesage from Dominion Energy stating that our power would be turned off, to press 1 to discuss..... Also, it was interesting that they called my office phone number which was not listed on our Dominion Energy account.

To whom it may concern,

I just got phone call from a man (6pm) pretending to be from Dominion Energy saying I needed to pay a security deposit for a metering change ($300+) or else my electricity would be shut off in 30-45 minutes. He knew my billing address and my current home address. First he said I had unpaid bills, then when I told him I had no unpaid bills, he switched to the metering change. When I pressed him, he said they were almost closing and that email proof of metering change/a deposit would require his manager's approval. He said they sent a letter 7 weeks ago and heard no response from me. He wanted me to send money via Zelle. When I asked again for an email, he said he heard doubts in my voice and that they'd turn off my electricity and he hung up. I then received several texts from the number saying my electricity would go off.

I really don't want anyone to fall for this, especially the elderly and vulnerable. It is so terrible, especially during these hard times. Please let me know if you have additional questions.

Received a called stating it was Dominion energy and power will be shut off in 30 minutes unless a payment is made. I have payment arrangements with Dominion so I knew this not to be true. They gave 844-892-5874.to call to make a payment. I called number and it goes to a voicemail with no identifying information, just the phone number repeated. Another call came from 803-374-7427 while I was filing complaint.

Received call that my power will be turned off in 30 min if I don’t pay bill

A voice recording claiming to be from Dominion Energy called to say we were late on our payment and power would be shut off that day. We were told to press a number to speak with customer service or to call 800-974-7405 to arrange payment. We checked our records internally and found we were up-to-date on all payments, so we called Dominion Energy's number listed on our bill, which was different than the one given us. We learned that this is a common scam and that service disconnection has been discontinued during COVID.

Someone purporting to represent Dominion Energy left a message with my nephew stating that the power was going to be shut off at a property I own (he previously lived there.). They left a case number and 1-800 number. I called and the answer sounded very much like Dominion Energy. An "agent" answered giving his "agent number" and name. He explained that the electric box at the property was dangerous and needed immediate replacement and that multiple notices had been sent to the house and now the power would be shut off in one hour. In order to get the power back on, I was advised to go to purchase a "money pack" card, load it with $495.00 and call back with the "PIN" number on the back. Also advised there would be a fee of $5.95 that would be refunded on my next bill. I talked to my property manager who advised this is a scam. They called back within the hour to see if I was making progress and when I said I thought it was a scam, they immediately hung up.

I received a voice mail message from a company identifying themselves as Dominion Energy and requesting payment to avoid my utilities being shut off. If i tried to engage them in conversation regarding the account they simply hung up on me unless i was willing to send in a payment immediately.

- Charleston, SC, USA

This person told me that he worked for Dominion Energy and that the power would be cut off to my business if I did not pay now. He asked me to download the Zelle app, and was going to "walk me through" how to use it to transfer funds to him. He provided [email protected] as his user name for the account. I told him I would take care of it later. He pressed me to complete the transaction so he could give me a confirmation number. When I told him I needed some time to get organized, he asked when he could call me back to provide a confirmation number.

I knew it was fake- we're going through a pandemic crisis and these 'people' have the audacity to try and scam me?!!! I'm just angry, out of work, helpless ... and i want them to be known so I'm reporting their number...

Threatened to disconnect service stating my payments were past due for purchase of a new meter. Was quite impatient and hung up on me when asked questions. Said his name was Christopher Miller, ID6300DE97. I have no new meter and was not advised of one to my knowledge. Called Dominion directly and they confirmed my account was up to date. Same caller than texted me from the number cited above restating my service was going to be disconnected in 30 minutes, truck "on his way now."
