The caller Jerry Stover from Greenville, SC called an assisted living facility telling the concierge if they did not receive payment in full the power would be disconnected within 30 minutes. Jerry said to call 800-456-4045 option 0 work order #750277. When I called I spoke with Joseph Garcia, once I told him the work order # he knew our address. He said that he needed payment today. When I looked into our billing system everything looked correct, there were no past due payments. Joseph said that they had a glitch in their software upgrade so our autopay was deactivated. He said we needed to pay the minimum of $1498.33 in order to continue services today. Also, I told Joseph that I never received any notices. I asked how did he sent the notices, he replied by mail which we never received. When I asked for an extension because our accounting department will be in on Monday, he said that he could do not that. He then said that I could use my personal credit card and then get reimbursed from my accounting department. Then he said that I had to pay with cash at a local store.

Typical Dominion Energy scam. Call from "utility installer" saying he had a work order to disconnect power in 45 minutes. Provided a phone number to call to review bills owed--800-335-9956. Call went through "real-type" "press 1 for..." type system, arriving at "billing" who took info and "pulled up the bill". Claimed that the last three payments went into another account and that they would have to be re-paid immediately to avoid power shutoff. Could not use credit card, etc, but must use an "express pay" process that they would provide details of, since it must clear in the "45 minutes" before shutoff.

Since I was at that time online reviewing my payment history, I informed the gentleman that I would first need to speak to my attorney, and he said OK and hung up. End of story. Reporting it only to add to the file and provide the 800 number they were using today.

Called Saturday morning at 11AM asking for the business owner. Had the name of the business owner and the business address. When I explained to her that it is Saturday and that's silly to think the owner would bother being here when she has employees to work for her, she stated that it is an emergency. I said "oh, no, an emergency?!" and she said "yes, it is very important that you call us back at this number "1-844-588-3840" because if we don't pay our past-due bill, our power would be cut off in 45 minutes. I knew it was fake because the owner always pays the bills on time and I mail them out. I called the number they gave me just to see if they would still try to pretend to be the power company. They have a recording of Dominion Power's recording when you call and when you choose the billing and payment option, it takes you directly to a person posing as a Dominion Power employee. This scam is pretty thorough and they have most of their bases covered. Always call the actual Dominion Power # first or check your account online before believing these guys. Dominion Power will never threaten to turn your power off in a short period of time in exchange for a payment. Oh, and the kicker, when I called the number back, and asked the guy to be removed from the call list, he replied "[censored] you, B***" and hung up on me. I don't normally go the mile to write things like this and warn people, but they had me convinced enough that I called Dominion myself to make sure they had gotten our check. Please be careful and always investigate before you give people your money!

Receive a phone call from (818)666-1873 by a person identifying himself as Joseph Palmer

He stated that he was in route to disconnect our power within the hour but I could stop him by contacting customer service at (855)965-6487 and gave me a disconnection number to reference when calling.

The number he gave me did not match Dominion Energy's advertised customer service number but I called anyway to try and get as much information as possible.

The person answered "Dominion Power customer service - my name is Michael" but when I gave him the disconnection number, he could only link it to the company name and address; not our account number, which I did not give him.

I informed him that I planned to report the call and he only replied that he was just doing his job

"Dominion Power" called to say our power will be disconnected in 30minutes if we do not pay an outstanding invoice. I called the number back, person said a technician was on his way and will be here within the hour to disconnect service.

Phone number 844-727-2744 called *** *** *** business phone number asking for the owner.

The owner answered the phone to be told that Dominion Power Electricity was about to disconnect electric power today due to 2 months behind.

Owner sent check with payment 2 weeks ago through regular mail. However, the check is not clear. The scammer knows exactly how much money is owed in electricity. The owner panics since she knows she used regular mail, and the check is not clear nor where to track the check.

The owner calls her husband and sent him the phone number to call (844-727-2744) to avoid loss of power. The husband called to make a payment, but they do not take credit cards or debit cards because according to the "Dominion Representative (DR)" it takes longer to claim and they want the payment now. DR suggest using a prepaid card "Money Pak". This is how the money got lost. 844-727-2744 plays dominion's company automated introduction.
