On Monday, December 16th, 2020, My wife and I responded to a RECYCLER ad here for Persian Kittens for sale: https://www.recycler.com/details/104492896/chinchinllapersian-kitten The person texted us back, saying his name was LUCIA. I asked for an invoice and he emailed me back saying " I am not a business - you don't need an invoice" and asked my wife and I to please ZELLE him a $300 deposit to this weird email address here [email protected] which we promptly did. We followed up confirming he received our $300 which went to an account from someone named MATT. When we questioned Mr Lucia (who even texted me image of his passport carrying the name Dominic Lucia) he responded "Matt is my Son". Next, he asked us for our "delivery address" which we thought was odd, and instead we told him we'd drive in person to pick up the kitty this Saturday, December 19th. He gave us this "Home address" for him and said they would be home at 2pm to meet us: 8 Valley Oaks Ln, Santa Rosa, CA 95409. When my wife and I googled that address, it came up "For Sale" thru Coldwell Banker Agency so we phoned the Real Estate Agent and spoke with her and she told my wife and I that she had literally just listed that home, and that the current owners were away in Palm Springs, CA for Christm[censored]iday and that they were not named Lucia! So we immediately texted back the seller, informing them that we were not comfortable driving up to Santa Rosa and then "Mr Lucia" texted back saying "oh so you want your deposit back then?" We replied YES - and then he texted us back asking us for the email address associated with our Zelle account so that he/his son could refund. That also struck us as strange, as if they had already received our $300 from Zelle, then they would have already had our Zelle email address. That all went down yesterday and today they are no longer responding to our text messages. When I asked the seller to call me so I could ask him a question over the phone, he texted back telling me "My Doctor advised me not to speak". We have since also reported this directly to RECYCLER.COM so we are wondering - how do we get our $300 back? thanks!
