This unnamed company sent me a letter marked "Final Notice." They falsely claimed there are new laws providing discounts on federal student loans, and they claimed to be able to reduce my student loan monthly payment. At the bottom of the letter in smaller type they disclose that they charge a fee for document preparation and counsel, but that the federal programs themselves are free. They do not state that loan servicers are required to provide such counsel and services for free.

The letter was very deceptive, and I only know it was bogus because I just went through a student debt clinic with a reputable non-profit organization.
