My elderly father is 83 and received an alarming call from someone claiming to be with his doctor’s office. He could not understand what they were saying. He told me they called and we called his real doctor and found out it was a fake call and that this scam is going around. They said they had other calls describing this today.

I received a call from someone that identified them self as calling from “my doctor’s office”. They wanted to verify my Medicare information for their records. They wanted to know the number on the card and I got suspicious. I asked them again what doctor’s office they were calling from as I have several and they hung up the phone.

They called trying to get me to buy a brace of some kind. Stated “my doctor” had prescribed it and they were calling from his billing office. They said insurance had denied it and wanted my credit card info to order the brace. I hung up.
