This is now becoming a common scam. They send you a check for $2400 and $400 is supposed to be payment for mystery shopping. They get you to deposit a check into your account and then you buy 4 gift cards from retailers using your account and they want you to send the information from the cards to them. The check doesn't clear in 24 hours like they claim and then the cards are emptied by the company. This is one of many of these I have received and they are constantly texting, emailing and sending these out to people looking for work. This makes using job portal websites dangerous. This wastes money, time and energy.

I haven't gone forward with this assignment before I get some legit feedback on this matter. Just want to know if safe or not. I've had one of these sent to me in the past basically staying the same message. I just showed my Bank the check and statement. They said it looked legit but something didn't sound right about the 24 hour timeframe leaving them enough time to exhaust your whole account. That's why they're not even bothered by paying you$400 then some. They get their money back and your checking and savings.

Type of a scam Fake Check/Money Order

Today I received a flat rate envelope measuring 12 1/2" x 9 1/2" from the USPS shipped priority mail.

Inside the large envelope, a letter and a check. It appears to have been shipped from;

CRETE CARRIER 400 NW 18th St Lincoln, NE 68528-1246

The letter, "SECRET SURVEYOR EVALUATION" from D & M Group Survey. Explains an assignment and wants you to deposit the check into your bank account. Then requests one to confirm receipt of package by emailing [email protected] and to include specific information like the amount of the check, bank name listed on check, ones phone number and estimated time to complete the evaluation. Then explains how to spend the check provided for $1980.00. Basically saying to visit 2 different Walgreen/Kroger & CVS Stores. Shop with $40 keep what was purchased & also buy $1000 of American Express Gift Cards as the 1st store and $500 worth at the 2nd store. Furthermore, details once gift cards have been purchased to capture images of each card (front & back - after it has been scratched) & not to discard as they will be used in a future assignment. Also lists a bold reminder that under no circumstances should one acknowledge that they are evaluation the store as it will DETER THE PURPOSE OF THE WHOLE PROGRAM. The images are then to be sent, along with a report containing specific information about the survey evaluation to [email protected] or can be text to 308-***-9618.
