Scammers emailed me about a remote admin assist job with DLR Group. After chat-based interview, emailed a job offer letter that I was to sign and return. I was sent an email from QuickBooks Time to sign up for payroll, which included my direct deposit information and my social security number to set up the W-2. I was asked to start a trial of QuickBooks Essentials and create a fake invoice in the amount of $4,500 for the services of "Start-up Funds". I was asked to set up a VOIP phone with RingCentral (did not end up doing this). I was given a USPS tracking number to track the delivery of a check (ended up being over $9,000) that I would use to buy unknown Apple products to get me started. I was asked to create a LinkedIn account as if I was a small business and post a job listing for a remote personal assistant based in the US, then email my supervisor with any applicants. There is an actual DLR Group with at least one employee with the name of my supposed supervisor. They are aware of this scam as it has been going on for at least a year.
