Type of a scam Online Purchase
I bought them for $400.00 plus the buyer's premium and it came to $492.00. When I received the earrings, I tested the stones and they are lab grown synthetic corundum, they are not "Sapphires" as stated in the listing and the description. I contacted them and their reply was " We test all gemstones with a Presidium Gem Tester. Unfortunately, gem testers will not differentiate natural gemstones from their synthetic counterparts (lab-created); this being the case we cannot guarantee natural stones unless we specifically state that it is natural in the listing." According to the FTC by stating the earrings as "18kt Gold Sapphire & Diamond Post Earrings 4.1g" they are stating the sapphires are natural from the ground. Even though they are an auction house, and buyer beware, they still have a responsibility to advertise items correctly or at the very least state it in the title when selling online or through 3rd party auction sites. I went back over the Dixon Crompton auction houses past jewelry sales and they do this repeatedly misusing the words "Ruby, Emerald, Sapphire", and having people believe they are buying natural gemstones when they are in fact buying fake or lab grown. How many people have no idea they have been scammed.???
