Type of a scam Employment
I received a call today from someone in Florida who said they were talking with a PR company called Diva Freelancers. Diva Freelancers told this person they represent the company I work for. He could not find any information about Diva Freelancers online and wanted to see how we liked their services before signing up with them. He contacted us via the information Diva Freelancers provided him with. Our company has never worked with a PR service. I suspect Diva Freelancers is scamming people while using our name in the process. Diva Freelancers claim to have ties to many major publications including the Huffington Post. The man who called sent an email chain where a woman called Katie from Diva Freelancers gives out our exact web address and requests $500/month for her PR services.
I called Katie after hearing this, and she told me she did in fact represent our company, without knowing I worked there. As soon as I told her I was calling from the company she was claiming to rep, she said she actually meant another company but could not recall their web address. However, in her emails to potential clients where she uses our name as her resume this proves to be untrue. I called the man who alerted us to this scam and let him know we have never worked with Katie or Diva Freelancers. He said he figured she was a scam artist and he did not follow through with a payment, however I am concerned that someone will fall into this trap, and it is a fairly expensive one.
