I received a phone call and the person identified themselves as DirecTV and they were doing a promotion with AT&T and Amazon where if you paid $300 for 3 months they would lower your bill to $99 a month for 2 years as well as not receiving a bill for 3 months. I called DirecTV directly and they said there was no such promotion and that it was a scam. They told me to get an Amazon Gift Certificate or Gift Card for $300 and call them back to pay them. The activation number they gave was DTV0162533.

My husband, Bill, received a phone call from an individual who claimed to be a representative of Directv and they were offering a special deal. The deal required the purchase of a $300 Amazon card in order to prepay our DirecTV account 6 months in advance thereby lowering our monthly bill to $59.99 a month for the duration of our 2 year contract starting in December '17. This individual had our address, my husband's name & number and the details of our account, although Bill's not sure he had the acct #. Please warn people about this. The callback # comes up as DirecTV and as new customers of Directv you would think they would have warned us.
