Caller ID identified the caller as my TV provider, Direct-TV. The individual stated Amazon was sponsoring a special program to Direct TV customers. He explained the reduced monthly bill, etc. The requirement was to pay the first six months of my new premium up front. There was a statement stressing "we are not set up to accept payment in this department. You will need to call the billing department to make this payment". This does disarm the fear of being scammed.

I was to purchase an Amazon Gift Card from a local merchant (increase awareness of availability) and call back to make the payment.

They gave me a code and billing phone 1-888-470-1882.

He had my address, phone and approx amount of my monthly service. Including the Amazon business goal to raise awareness is brilliant. They almost got me.
