The president's company email was hacked. The invoice was attached to the email that appeared to be the true email of the president of the company. Further email communications were exchanged further indicating assumption of email owner. Payment was generated via direct deposit, because this of third party processing, but was immediately voided as soon as it was realized the email was hacked and this was a scam. The third party processor had reached out regarding a question about a different matter and was informed the owner had not sent the email when sharing payments made for the week.
