this was a cold call (evening) offering significant savings on a cable tv/phone/internet package. They said it was "mandatory" to give my SSN or Drivers license number to place the order. i refused - they are supposedly going to send all info discussed so I can contact them if I still want the (very good) deal. Claimed it was a Direct TV special offer for people paying more than $150 for similar package.

Oddities - 1) said they were using the "911 secure line".

2) said they were "being monitored by the BBB

3) said any info I gave them turned to ***s after I gave it - however were able to read back phone number and address.

4) needed a $1 "order hold fee" from credit card.
