I almost sent $650 to purchase a bengal cat from a fake seller on craigslist who claimed that they were going to send the kitten to me from Burlington Flat, NY to Burlington, VT (thought they had put the add in the wrong "Burlington"). The cat was supposed to cost $500, and the shipping was $150. I realized just as I was about to send the money (through Zelle, aslo said that they would use the cash app) that their website had a lot of language errors and then I searched the internet for matches to some of the very well-written and technical part of their site. I found an almost identical site with different owners, and when I searched under the name of that site (Diana Bengals), I found a complaint online with almost the exact situation - someone who lost over $1200 to bengal breeders in Burlington, NY who kept asking for more money to cover expenses and never refunded the money when the victims finally said that they couldn't send any more money. The airport that they claim that they would be sending the cat from is just a very small aircraft airfield, not a commercial airport at all.

The name of the person selling the kitten in this situation was Hilda Maurice. The website that she had me go to to see the kitten was:

We contacted them through An ad online that sent us to their website the ad stated that they were located in Las Vegas. We went to their website and contacted them via text they then asked us to communicate with them through WhatsApp. We asked them how much the deposit was so that we could drive the next day to Vegas to purchase the cat they told us that the deposit was $250 and that they could only take bitcoin. We then went to a bitcoin ATM and deposited $255 for a deposit and paid them the ATM did take out fees. We then asked for their address and let them know that we lived in California and would probably take about four hours to get there. They then proceeded to tell us that they lived in Burlington New York. Then they proceeded to tell us that they could ship the cat. Further review over their website showed that if we paid $900 that included delivery I also looked over their delivery process and they claim that they were well-versed in shipping animals. I then asked if we paid the full amount we would not be asked to pay anymore and the cat would be delivered to us safely. They did verify that this was the case so we proceeded to bitcoin ATM again we then deposited $650 The ATM would not allow us to put in the extra hundred for questionable fees. We ended up being $100 short and let them know that the machine had been maxed out and we would deposit the other hundred the next day. They were OK with that and and told us they would proceed with shipping. I did not hear from them till later that evening when they told me that they could not ship the cat because they were busy getting food and toys for the cat and that they would ship him tomorrow. The following day in the morning I received a message from them that their crate was declined by whatever airline they were using and that we the buyer would have to give them an extra $300 to rent a crate. I proceeded to argue With the seller and ended up having them only ask for an extra $150 on top of the hundred that was owed so a total of $250. We then went to another bitcoin ATM and deposited $280 including fees do you have them ship the cat that day. Once they were paid I confirmed that they were on their way to the airport to ship the cat. A few hours had passed and I had not heard from them so I message them and they assured me nothing was wrong. I did not hear from them till the end of the day when they told me that they did not ship the cat and they would ship him the next day. They then proceeded to withheld why they didn’t ship the cat that day. After pushing her to tell me what was going on she then told me that all of a sudden there’s an insurance fee that we had to pay and until we paid it they could not ship the cat. At that point I had told them I no longer wanted the cat and asked for my money back since then I have not received any money and they still have not shipped the cat. It has now been about a week and they still have not and refuse to give me my full $1205.
