Ran across an ad online about a product that would help with wrinkles and age spots.  They offered a free trial of the product and all you had to do was pay the shipping.  I sware I searched all the screens I needed to complete before submitting the info to get my "free trial" and did not see anything about having to contact them within a certain time frame before they automatically took payments from my checking account.  I have been caught before on this type of deal, so I make sure I am careful looking for this.  Well, low and behold, two weeks later, they took out $73. 75 and $34.00 for the two "free samples".  I called and compalined nicely that I wanted the transaction reversed and they told me they can't do that.  However, "as a courtesy, they would refund half of the $73".  Guess that's better than nothing, but I can't afford all that money for a product that doesn't even do what they say it will.  Isn't that false advertising?  Can't they get in trouble for that?

I know better but fell for the scam anyway. Saw facebook posts the the stars of Fixer Upper on HGTV with Joann and Chip Gaines was cancelled because Joanne was starting her own skincare company. There was some advertising on Facebook using her name with an offer for a free sample of skin care product and an eye cream with payment of shipping only. I decided to get the sample of the skin care product but did not order the eye cream. I received both in the mail anyway and my credit card was charged for shipment of each product. I just shrugged it off that I was charged for a product I didn't want but about 2 weeks later my credit card was charged $94.77 for the skin cream. I contacted my credit card company to get a phone number where I could call the company. I spoke to a representative who told me there was a 14 day free trial (NO MENTION OF THAT ON THE FB OFFER). He told me he could not refund my money. I told him I was disputing with my credit card company and reporting them to the BBB so he asked me to wait and he would have me speak to his supervisor and put me on hold. I waited a few minutes and hung up the phone. About a half hour later I got a call from the Supervisor - final outcome was they would refund half the money but said that was all he could do. I told him to cancel any future shipments both from the Dermagenetix and Live Awakening (NAMES THEY GO BY). I called my credit card company and disputed the other half of the skin care product and they blocked them for both company names from charging my credit card for any future shipments and am reporting them to my BBB in my state in addition to this website.
