We were trying to sell a pair of expensive athletic shoes. Through the online platform “Depop”, the shoes were offered for sale and a buyer was identified. The shoes were shipped but funds were not received. Posing as Depop staff, the perpetrator requested that a $250 refundable security deposit be sent. Unfortunately this was done. Overnight shipping was requested with the promise of reimbursement of costs, $130. Of course that was not received either. So, shoes are gone, cost of overnight shipping is gone, $250 “security deposit” is gone.
