I got a letter in the mail that had no return address on it. When I opened it, it has “2015 Jeep WRANGLER” at the top, which is my car, then lists a customer ID number. It doesn’t have a company name but wants me to call to extend my car warranty. It has the correct year, make and model of my car and has the VIN with the last 8 characters blocked out.

I have received several letters from this unknown company. They use a fake car info to try to sucker me into giving them info about my car. I keep telling them I don't have a car. This time they said I have a 2019 Chevy HHR. HHR's haven't been made since 2011. I wish the Government would stop this fraud outfit from continuing this scam. I told them to remove me from their mailing list several times but they keep sending me their misleading letters.

Claims that they were going to have me pay for a fake warranty for a car that I had never even purchased Clearly they got my search from cars.com where I did look for BMW the information was shared. I have the letter from them. sending it to me personally, which is very alarming.

Received a letter in the mail requiring immediate response. The letter had my information, knew my vehicle type, seemed legitimate enough. I just purchased a vehicle 1 month prior to this letter and purchased a full 5-year extended warranty with the vehicle.

This letter informs me that my warranty is set to expire unless I log into their website and update the vehicle information. Well, I paid enough for my warranty, I certainly don't want a lapse to occur. I am not familiar with the policies regarding my warranty. The dealership where I purchased the car had a kind of slimy feel, and they have contacted me so many times since I purchased the vehicle about every little detail possible. I figured this was their way of collecting on warranty without having to actually provide the service, all because of my negligence in not updating the vehicle information.

I was wrong! The letter was not from the dealership at all. Of course I could tell that by the address, but I figured they had outsources their Department of Warranty Services to California. It makes sense; it's a national company; they have several headquarters across the country. Anyway, after submitting my information, I am told that a representative will contact me shortly. A few days later, I get a phone call from a 215 number (eastern Pennsylvania). I call the number back, won't connect. We play some phone tag and finally I talk to a someone. Guess what it's about: the warranty that's about the expire on my vehicle. During the phone call, the guy won't say directly the name of any company. He says "we" will cover "your vehicle." I asked him, "What vehicle?" He then admits that he does know my vehicle type. I'm thinking, is this legitimate? Is this part of the company or is this some [censored] scammer third party warranty company? Spoiler alert: it was the latter.

After transferring me, and calling me "sir" 1000 times, and having the second guy ask me a million get-to-know-you-please-trust-me-questions, I finally get to the bottom line. I let the guy talk for 5 straight minutes, sputtering, amazed that I'm still listening to his garbage. He talked himself down on the price without me ever having to say a word. He asked for my credit card. I told him that he should be ashamed of himself, trying to present an image that he is associated with the car company when he's not.

It may not be illegal, but it is definitely unethical and manipulative. I can only imagine how people of lesser intelligence survive these scams. Please beware!
