Department of Social Security Administration Reports & Reviews (21)

- Springfield, MO, USA

I received 4 calls all from different numbers saying that a woman named “Jennifer ********” was calling me from the “Department of Social Security Administration” because of a “legal enforcement action” filed under my name and under my Social Security Number for Criminal Activities. I answered the last call knowing it was a scam to see what they were trying to scam people out of. I found out they are calling to try and scam people out of $1,200. They say its because you weren’t supposed to receive a stimulus check and the “SSA” is calling to tell you you’ll face Criminal Charges if you don’t pay them back either in one payment or with a payment plan.

Received a call on my cell phone from the number above stating they were the department of social security administration saying there’s a legal enforcement action filed against my number for fraudulent activity to call the number above before they take legal proceedings. I have the message saved. I didn’t call back.

I received a robo call from the "Department of Social Security Administration" stating that they have suspended my social security number due to suspicious activity. There is no option to speak with someone from the voicemail and they left no phone number to call back.

- Monroe, LA, USA

Received a call @ 1:01 pm on 8/27/19 from a recorded message stating they are the Department of Social Security Administration and the reason for the call is to inform me that they suspended my social security number because they found some suspicious activity and to press one to speak with some.

- Colorado Springs, CO, USA

I received a robocall stating the following: “This call is from the Department of Social Security Administration. The reason you have received this phone call from our department is to inform you that we just suspend your Social Security number because we found some suspicious activity, so if you want to know about this case just press one. Thank you.”

And yes, the voice just said “suspend.” Not suspended. I did not press one like it wanted so I don’t know where it would have gone from there.

They left a message stating that they were from the Department of Social Security Administration and that my social security number had been suspended due to suspicious activity. Just out of curiosity I wanted to just see what they would say if I called back, well surprise the number doesn't work. I just hope that this can be resolved before someone gives them their information and they are scammed.

- Stanton, KY, USA

I received a call on 5/3/19 from a number I did not recognize, so I did not answer. I then received an automated voicemail stating:

"This call is from the Department of Social Security Administration. The reason you have received this phone call from our department is to inform you that we just suspend your Social Security number because we found some suspicious activity. So if you want to know about this case just press one thank you."

Very poorly written and never identified who they were looking for. Overall red flags indicating this was a scam.

I got an automated voicemail from the Department of Social Security Administration warning me that they suspended my SSN because they found some suspicious activity. They wanted me to push '1' to address the issue. I did not.

I got 2 calls with 2 hours.

I received a voicemail message on my landline on Thursday, February 28, 2019 that stated "The reason you have received this phone call from our department is to inform you that we just suspend your Social Security number because we found some suspicious activity. So, if you want to know about this case just "Press 1 thank you". (here there was about a 2 second pause) This call is from the Department of Social Security Administration. The reason you have received this phone call from our department is to inform you that we just suspend your Social Security number because we found some suspicious activity. So if you want to know about this case just "Press 1 thank you". I was not home at the time of the call but would not have answered it anyway since I don't answer calls from #'s I'm not familiar with. It was obviously a scam. The voice sounded computer-generated and twice used the word "suspend" rather than "suspended". Plus the pause after the first time they said to "Press 1" (hoping you would). The call came from the number (712)883-0082 in Danbury, IA. The call did not ask for money or any confidential personal information on the voicemail. I assume that would have happened if someone had answered and "pressed 1".

- Kansas City, MO, USA

I have received multiple messages in the last 7 days from an automated system. In the messages, the automated male voice claims to be from the Department of Social Security Administration and that due to suspicious activity, my SSN was 'just suspended'. The message cuts off every time on the last sentence saying "if I want to know more about my case"....

- Omaha, NE, USA

I have been getting calls from a different number each day saying that my social security number has been suspended due to suspicious activity. I haven't answered the calls because I didn't recognize them and the location says unknown. They state if I want to know more about the case to press 1.
