I was called by someone claiming to be Sergeant Robert Hitchcock of the Denver County Sheriff Dept. He stated that I failed to appear for jury summons and needed to submit some type of vouchers to prevent a bench warrant. He spewed lots of legal jargon about me going through a criminal or civil process to remove court order for arrest and said I needed to drive to a financial institution while he stayed on the line and get money for vouchers and then drive to the sheriff dept with the vouchers which would be used as a hold and then refunded. If I opted to go through the criminal process instead of civil I was directed to drive straight to the sheriff dept for processing of criminal charges which would be made public and could be on my record. Additionally the process would take over 3 hours so I would need someone to come and pick up my car to avoid it from being towed as there is no parking allowed for over 1 hour. They made it very clear that the 'civil' process was better than the criminal process and that it was urgent that I do it immediately. They also stated there were 22 total that did not show up for jury summons and they would be reviewing this as that number was 'high'.
