I was looking for a home or apartment to rent in Riverside, CA. I found a 3BR that was quite affordable and figured it was too good to be true, but I checked it out anyway. The person who emailed me back claimed to be a Reverend Ryan A. Giorandi and claimed to have recently moved from California to New York to begin work at a new church. He sent me a Rent Questionnaire that mostly asked harmless questions (do I smoke, have pets etc) however the last question was "How Much Do You Have At Hand Right Now If You Are Asked To Secure The Property Today?". I sent the questionnaire back to see if it was really a scam. He sent me back an email claiming that he would mail me the keys and appropriate documents once he had received the 1st months rent and deposit (total $1700). He said that he wanted payment via Money Gram to one Denis Kramer at the following address: 36 Chester Rd Glens Falls NY 12803. I assume this is the scammer's real name and address or someone who runs the scam with him.
It was pretty obvious that this was scam from the get go and I realize 50% or more of the stuff on Craigslist is, but I wanted to report this guy anyway because he's laying on the nice guy act real thick in his emails, pretending he's a Reverend and throwing in a lot of "God Bless you" and "Peace be with" and I would hate for someone to get caught in this guys web. Hopefully others have reported this guy previously and maybe something can be done.
