I live in Canada and found an ad on a local site much like Craigslist. I reached out with an interest in a shipping container and was contacted by John Randolph. I spoke with him on the phone and he had a foreign accent. He said his shipping company was in Washington State and they had delivered shipping containers to British Columbia (my province) and even my island - Vancouver Island - before. I arranged to have 2 containers delivered. He told me that it was a 2-3 day delivery, that I paid the shipping up front and then I paid the container on arrival. There were definitely a few red flags, but he hustled to explain them - he was doing me a favour because I had a business pay pal account and that wasn't working with their accounting system. I paid through etransfer. I sent the amount a couple of different ways and was refunded because it wasn't "right" so I thought it possible for my money to be returned to me because it happened. the day before the delivery he texted to say there was an "unprecedented issue" and that I had to pay an insurance amount of $1850 that would be refunded after 24 hrs. I declined and confronted his shady dealings and told him he needed to deliver the container or give me a refund. I have heard nothing.
