Dell Tech Support Reports & Reviews (5)

Had a call from "Dell" tech support. He said they were discontinuing their service and I was entitled to a refund for my service contract - I do have a service contract with Dell. He said that he would give me the info I needed to make a small charge on my credit card and then they would process the refund. At that point I said it sounded like a scam to me and hung up.

Offering Computer Protection and Spyware for a fee. They stated that there would be a $10 license fee, originally quoted $645 fee and then reduced the amount to $200.

Dell Sony Wall attachment to wifi is the equipment they are attempting to market.

Consumers may confuse the company with Dell Computer Company.

For about a month, have been receiving several calls daily from someone claiming to be from Windows Technical Department first, then since from Dell Technical Department. Same person every time, calls himself (ahem) Alex Bell. Claims that I have files that have stopped working and that it's imperative to get into the computer to fix. (I'm currently training for IT red hat, and I'm pretty good already with computers -- there was nothing wrong with it then, or now, but it's out of warranty anyway). I did not cooperate at all, and have filed reports with the FTC and Dell.

I have several phone numbers that they've used to attempt to contact me through, including blocking their number so it shows as "unknown caller" on my caller ID. I'll share them below.

Probably "hijacked" numbers:

800-624-9896

800-425-2067

Probably a spooler number 900343 and 1900343

"Alex Bell" gave me two phone numbers in San Jose, California

408-890-6018 and 818-222-9456 his "extension" 918861.

And my favorite, India 800999988

(which looks like a 1-800 number at first glance but is short one digit - reverse lookup confirms India)

This seems to indicate that Dell has a security leak in their India call center, and that NPC info of their customers is being sold or parceled out to scammers such as "Alex Bell".

Numerous calls from (800) 624-9897 claiming to be Dell Tech, that my computer is notifying them that something is wrong with my computer and that they want to take control of my computer to fix what's wrong. I've asked them not to call me again and the calls continue. I've even called the police in the hopes that they can find out who they are because one call was from my local area code. A call to Dell informed me that my computer cannot notify them of such. I would have to call them if I have a problem.
