My laptop screen went blank. I went to the Dell website. There was a box that said contact us. I clicked on it and could choose email, phone or something else. I chose to contact by phone. I contacted them on my desktop computer. The person on the phone said he needed to access my desktop computer to be able to help me. Sounded strange, but I said ok. He showed me on the screen a running list of what he said were hackers trying to get into my computer. He could help me if I paid $200 and it would be effective for a year. While talking further, I said it sounded like a scam and I wasn't sure I should do that. But this was the kicker---he said You Called Me. I didn't Call You. So I gave him a credit card number. He had also said the charge wouldn't be under the name Dell, but some tech name which I forgot. I decided this wasn't good and pulled the plug on my computer. I canceled my credit card and called Dell to tell them there was a scammer on their website. They didn't seem to care. But he verified the number I called from their contact box was not a Dell number.
