I received a restricted call from DHL stating I needed to be home within the hour with a State ID to receive a letter to be served, they even knew the case # on the letter. They gave me a number to call because I had no idea what they were speaking about, you here being served papers to court and you panic. Called number, spoke to one guy rude, said it was regarding an outstaning American Express. I swpre to them I never had American Express, then I thought my exhusband may have got a card under my name and defaulted on payments. This first guy got short with me and hung up. I called back got another gut by the name of Mark Richards x402. He was the good cop. I still swore I never had this account, but agreed to pay $500 to settle debt. Right after I authorize payment, I check my credit repoort and I was correct, there is nothing on it for American Express or thier colleciton company. I called bank immediately to cancel debit card andtell them i do not authorize this payment. It is not guaranteed the bank will fight this fraud and get my money back. You get threatened with legal fees and going to court and your salary being garnished, you panic and I reacted in their favor instead of hanging up on them and looking into it before I spoke with them any further. The loss of $500 is a bit hit to myself and my boys.
