Deceptive Auto Warranty Mailing Reports & Reviews (1)

- Carbondale, CO, USA • Oct 03, 2023

I bought a new Volkswagen in January, 2023. Soon following, I received a yellow notice in the mail from the "Vehicle Services Division" that appeared to be from Volkswagen, warning about a lapse in my warranty coverage and **Immediate Response Requested** on it. On March 31, I received another mailing marked "Final Notice" and "Please call immediately as this will be our final attempt to notify you" and again warning that my "vehicle coverage may be expiring or may have already expired" and that "I was at risk of being financially liable for any and all repairs." I thought I had purchased a warranty with the purchase of the car but these mailings made me concerned that I needed to do something to ensure I had warranty coverage. I called the number and a representative said it was $100 to activate my warranty. Stupidly, I gave them my credit card. Then they said it was $162 a month for 18 months to cover all repairs. At this point I started suspecting some third party was trying to sell me an additional form of service coverage and I told them I would call the dealership. I went back through my records and found that indeed, I had opted for a 5 year warranty on the car, included in the purchase of the car. I also checked with Volkswagen and they confirmed that I had signed a form that I had received their assurance that they didn't share my information with any third parties other than the State of Colorado. I called Vehicle Services Division and demanded my $100 back. I notified the ScamPulse.com but only wished to report the business and did not request any action and got an email back that the ScamPulse.com would not take any action. I just received another mailing from Vehicle Services Division which looks like a check but when opened again in bold "requests response" and warning that my "factory warranty has or may be about to expire." It is deceptive marketing and I have a feeling I am not the only one almost duped or who has been deceived and would like this business investigated and added to a list of scams to watch out for.
