My mom showed me an online ad for a position as an administrative assistant for Davita company. They told me to download the Signal messaging app to conduct my interview there. On that app, I received a text where they informed me of what their company was and what I would be doing in that position. They asked me for my résumé and then began asking me standard interview questions. After the interview, they asked if I had a printer and when I asked why, they evaded the question. They asked how long I would stay at the company and how I would like to be paid. I told them direct deposit. They then asked for my banking institute and if I was eligible for mobile deposit. I gave them that information. They said they hired me for the position. After that, they told me what the pay rate was and what other benefits I would get. They said I would need to work 40 hours per week and I questioned them why 40 hours if I was given a part time position. They changed their answer and said 20-30 hours instead. I then kept asking what the minimum hours would be to work there and they thought I said how long I would stay at the position and responded with a minimum of 6 months. I clarified by saying hours per week and then they said there were no minimum or maximum hours I needed to fulfill. I was reassured because as a college student, my classes are more important to me than a job position. I asked if I would be working at the center near by or at home and they promptly told me that it would be an at home position. They then asked for my name, phone number, home address, email, and a photo of me and my drivers license. I unfortunately sent them all of those pieces of information. They then told me that I would have flexible hours but would need to check in every morning at 8 AM and would need to take a week to do orientation and online training. They then told me they would send me a Mac laptop with fast internet connection with pre-loaded programs. Afterwards they said that management would send me a check to buy software program and that I was to deposit the check into my account. They said to notify them as soon as I did it and to deduct 200 dollars from the sign on bonus when I begin my training. They asked how soon I will have access to the funds and what I want written on the check. I told them that I want my full name on the check. They sent me some documents to sign including an NDA form and an appointment form. Which I signed and sent to them. They emailed me the check and asked me to print it and deposit it, which i also did. They showed me a picture of what I would be receiving and that I would need to buy the software program with an online payment method. I told them what I had and they said to use Apple Pay and to send it to a phone number of the vendor. They wanted me to send 1000 dollars to that number and then send a picture of that transaction. My family and I then got suspicious and I decided to end communication with them. They texted me in the morning and called me in the morning but I did not respond to them. Additionally they also reached out to me through my messenger app.
