Our company (Data Dimensions) has received several reports from job seekers via Facebook Messenger that have informed us that there are scammers posing to be from Data Dimensions, they've even stolen some of our online graphics to make it look more legitimate, offering data entry or other positions for a falsely inflated hourly rate. The scammers "interview" the "candidate" through a 3rd party messaging app such as Telegram (the most frequently reported platform in this case) and ask a series of questions that are reasonably typical in any job interview. Then they tell the candidate that they will send them a check to cover the cost of a laptop, printer, and other office supplies and that it should be cashed via mobile banking app. At this point most victims have reached out to us through our legitimate FB or our website contact form to confirm the validity of the opportunity that was presented to them. We always point them to our Careers page or Indeed.com which are the only valid job openings posted online, and assure them we never interview via Telegram or other online platform. We also encourage them to report the scam and the FB user profile. Most times it seems the scammers are not only portraying themselves as representatives of our company, but they also seem to be hacking innocent user profiles to initially promote their scam.

That we are aware, no one has actually lost money or has been asked for money. We believe the scam is to get the victim to cash the fake check and "buy supplies" through an entity they designate in order to funnel the money back to the scammers. Then once the bank catches the error, the victim could be on the hook for paying back the bank or potentially even for fraud.

The level of PII the victims are exposing/losing seems to vary, but the scammers definitely get their F/L Names, and then also sometimes their home address, bank name, email address...
