The scammer posed as a law firm attempting to to file lawsuit against me for an old debt and a debt account they did not own. He threatened that the sheriff was coming to serve me with a lawsuit. He even called my parents looking for and telling them he was trying to get a hold of myself and my husband to serve us. He called my husband telling him they would garnish his wages if the debt wasn't paid. He called again posing his caller ID as the sheriffs department but never left a message. He knew my social security number and past addresses etc. He told me the sheriff was coming to serve me with a lawsuit and that is when I got the call that looked like it was from the sheriffs department. That's when he said he could talk to his lawyers and see if they would drop the suit if we paid in full. So we paid plus fees $5400. Only to find out after calling the county clerk that there was never a law suit filed in my name and that a lawyer from another state cannot sue you in another. (the debt is from CA and the suit was supposedly filed in OR and then in GA) I then called the original creditors collection department and found out that the debt account was never bought or in the hands of a Friedman Legal Group and was then given the info of the firm who actually owns the account.
