I was on a pet website to buy a dog. The breeder,(scammer), Daniel Roberson, contacted me via cell phone text and email asking for payment through Zelle. The scammer consistently acted very pushy when the transfer was not yet successful. There were several messages and emails asking me about the progress of the transfer. After the transfer was successful, he sent me two unprofessional contracts asking me to sign. The next day, I received an email from the pet shipping company (the scammer's accomplice) about the need for a rental fee of $1250 because the dog's crate does not meet the requirements of the epidemic. The email asked us to send the payment via Zelle. We tried to make the transactions via two Zelle accounts, but the bank never went through. I talked with the breeder to see if he could pay the rental fee for us since the email stated that 98% of the crate rental fee will be refunded to him once the puppy arrives, he refused to make the transaction after we said we can pay him back. This situation ended with the crate cannot be replaced. The breeder said we are not sacrificing for the dog, and he made an assumption that we cannot take good care of the puppy. This was not the case. We DID make the transactions and tried to get a proper crate for the puppy, but they were rejected by the bank. The breeder said he will cancel everything and refund me back after his assumption. It has been one and a half days, and I am not getting any update from the breeder. We searched through Google for pet pictures and found that the dogs he uploaded were all stolen from other social media apps because the information about the dogs and the time they were taken didn't match. So we found out that not only were we being scammed by the pet transport company, the breeder was a scammer too. They were in partnership.The scammer exploited the law and is now not responding to messages. The only thing I can do is to report it and hope that other people who want to buy pets will be less scammed.
