Dalmatian Pups4Sale Reports & Reviews (1)

- Blacksburg, VA, USA

This site/scammers advertise on their website that they have 5 dalmatian puppies available for adoption: Clive, Dottie, Gracie, Jess and Todd. All 12 weeks old and for $600 plus the cost for transportation. Their puppies are supposed to be litter box trained -- which is unique, but realistic and definitely possible by 3 months. You inquire with the "breeders" through a link in the website and they promptly email you back. The first red flags we noticed upon receiving the initial email were:

- There is no breeder name linked with the email address, just the company name. They also did not introduce themselves or end the email with a name.

- They did not address any of the questions we asked in our initial inquiry message

- We inquired about a specific puppy and they never mentioned her by name. Only as "the puppy".

- The site itself does not say what state they were located in, which is not uncommon, but in googling the clinic name in the background of one of Todd's photos, that clinic is located in Washington D.C. and whey they emailed us the first time, they said they were in Colorado. If there is a clinic by that exact same name in Colorado, it has no online presence which is unheard of in 2020.

- The grammar of the emails were poor

- Stated that the puppy transport company would do "same day delivery" -- Assuming this is ground transportation as no airlines is accepting animals right now due to COVID, I don't know how one gets from Colorado to Virginia in <24 hours

- The copyright on their site says 2020. They however are supposed to have been breeding for years. -- There could be legitimate reasons for this discrepancy, so we didn't put too much stock into it

We sent a reply email because while suspicious, the initial email also included 11 additional pictures and one 4 second video with the same puppy in all of them at various stages from birth. I reverse searched each of these images and came up with nothing linking them to someone's social media or another breeder's site. Though mentioning that with transportation costs the puppy would total to $700, they were not pushing for payment and did not even list methods of accepted payment. While not the best breeder site we've come across, for scammers, they did put a decent amount of effort into their site; saying just enough of the right things that you consider it could be legitimate. They also said that had we been closer to them, we could pick up the puppy -- but this was only after knowing we are in VA and stating that they were in CO.

We were teetering about the validity of these breeders so in our response to their first email, I said I had questions about the puppy and adoption process and if they could provide me with a number to speak with them briefly. I also included about 6 questions that were asking for very basic information that a breeder either offers to you without inquiry or has no qualms answering:

1. What specific health and genetic conditions are your pups screened for?

2. What conditions are covered by the 1 year health guarantee?

3. What are Jess’ parents like as far as size? (just so we have an idea of what to expect as she grows)

4. How does shipping/transport work (ground/air)? In your last email, you mentioned that the delivery is the same day. Does this apply to us if Jess will have to travel from Colorado to Virginia?

5. How do we make payment? Do you accept PayPal?

6. Would it be possible to send us a copy of the adoption contract?

I got back 3 emails that had nothing written in the body. Thinking it could have been a glitch or mistake, I let them know there was no information/message and if they could resend their message. I then received another 2 blank emails. In a new email thread I mentioned that the problem continued and maybe starting a new thread would fix the problem, but if they could provide me with a phone number, I would appreciate the opportunity to speak with them. To this, I got an email with the exact same message stated in the first (and only) email they had sent us:

payments IN FULL $700 from you for this dog, we are going to prepare

the BILL OF SALES PAPERWORK and send you a copy of it so that you can

read through the terms of the sales and sign. The Bill of sales

agreement offers protection and guarantee to the buyer. When we talk

I replied that this was the same exact email they had already sent and if we could just speak over the phone. They quickly replied with an email that only said, "Text me at #719-300-5074."

That was the nail in the coffin for us. Any legitimate breeder would not avoid a simple phone call - in fact, they would insist on one. I searched the phone number and while the 719 area code does correspond to Colorado Springs, CO, it's listed as a landline. So, no text message was ever going to go through.

No payments or obviously sensitive information was shared with them, but we did provide our name, phone numbers and addresses.
