Family member provided contact information on website to indicate interest in a dog that was advertised for $650 on the website. Scammer responded to inquiry through text message. Scammer required a deposit of $300 before delivering pet and said they would provide the dog in a public location in Bakersfield. The pet did not arrive and there was no communication of the whereabouts of the pet. Scammer then explained the dog was to be delivered by an assistant, but their whereabouts were also unknown. Scammer refused to refund the security deposit although the website indicates that all deposits are refundable and transferable. Dogs on website are promoted to be registered under American Kennel Club.
