I have been searching for a Cavapoo puppy and came upon the website www.cutecavapoopuppiespets.com. I inquired about 2 of their puppies - Molly and Lily. I received an immediate response attesting that they are family breeders and that their puppies were healthy and registered. They emailed me pictures and videos of the dogs. They represented that they were in El Paso, Texas. Since I am in Georgia, I asked how the pup would be delivered. They said that they would make all of the delivery arrangements for a fee of $100 and the pup would be delivered to my doorstep. I asked them for a agreement or some other evidence of purchase and they said they would not provide it until I paid them through Zelle. I insisted on a letter of intent to purchase being electronically executed prior to sending the money, which they did. I transferred the money and they provided me with transfer of ownership papers and everything seemed to be on the up and up. They provided with the delivery details - a pet carrier called United Pet AirWays would be transporting the puppy. They provided me with a tracking number - united789ways4k - for the puppy. That evening, out of the blue, I received an email allegedly from the carrier company. The initial email had the wrong dog (Pomeranian puppy) and referenced Abraham Gonzalez International Airport. The email stated that the puppy could not be presently shipped because it needed a temperature controlled travel crate and vaccinations for flight. I was told that the travel crate was $1222 for a first class crate and $960 for a second class crate, which would be refundable upon delivery of the puppy and the vaccinations were $105. I was told that I needed to pay this money immediately or the puppy would not be shipped. I contacted the breeder about this surprise extra cost and was told that I needed to pay. I questioned the accuracy of the information and the validity of the charges. The email address sending me these messages was [email protected]. I received phone calls from a gentleman with a heavy accent from (859) 493-6894 saying that these charges needed to be paid immediately or they could not transport my puppy. I was sent the following payment details for payment through Zelle - Zelle email: [email protected], Zelle name: Jesus Rojascabrera. When I looked up that account, Zelle could not find any information. I questioned these people about why payment would be made to an icloud account and why a supposed international company would only accept payment through a money transfer account and not a credit account. I got no response to my question which made me even more nervous about the transaction. I then received a different Zelle account - Zelle email: [email protected], Zelle name: Angel Perez. I could not transfer the money using Zelle because of previously transferring the $750 for the puppy to Ms. Taylor. My Zelle limit is $1000. When I informed them of that and offered to pay via a credit card, they asked me to pay via Apply Pay and send me an email stating (in all caps): Please we don't have much time left. We need to confirm this payment ASAP. They provided me with the following Apple Pay number: 7609056375. When I tried to use that number, Apple Pay locked down my Apple Pay account due to potential fraud. I informed the breeder of everything going on and that I was not comfortable with the situation. Since she represented that she worked with them all the time, I proposed that she pay them the amount and be reimbursed for the crate and that I would then reimburse her for the vaccination. She responded that she did not have the money and urged me to pay her through Apple Pay and then she would pay them. She gave me the following Apple Pay number: 2516440725. I refused, stating that I was not comfortable with this situation and I did not understand why I could pay with a credit card if this was legitimate. I was then contacted by the pet carrier asking if I as near a Walmart to get a cash card. I refused. They then asked me to use Abra.com and I refused. I repeatedly told them that I didn't understand why the breeder could not pay the charges and I would reimburse her or why they could not invoice me or why they could not accept a credit card. Finally, I was informed that they would wait until the next day for payment so that my Zelle account would refresh. In the meantime, I found the "breeder"'s website was tagged as a pet scam website. I also noted that the contact email for United Pet Airways was [email protected] not [email protected]. I attempted to contact United Pet Airways and their number went to a busy signal. I could not contact the carrier at all. I also attempted to call the breeder and the number also went to a busy signal.

This morning, I called my bank and disputed the charge, explaining that I believe that I was the victim of an internet pet scam. I also entered the tracking number into the United Pet Airways website and it was not found. I contacted the breeder through text and told her my concerns and asked for a refund. She initially defended the carrier but when I texted her the website where she was tagged as a pet scammer and told her that if she was a reputable breeder, she should have no problem refunding my money, I have not heard a response. I have filed fraud reports with the ITC and the Texas Attorney General, as well as a police report
