- Goodhue, MN, USA

I answered the phone, was told that I was talking to customer service, and asked if I could hear her. Then, there was an offer for a trip to Florida.

- Powell, OH, USA

When I answered the phone, a lady said, "Hi, this is customer service. Can you hear me OK?" I have heard about these scams that get people to reply "yes," so that they can use your voice in opening up credit accounts. Luckily, I just said "hello?" like I couldn't hear her and then hung up.

- Cary, NC, USA

"This is Emily with customer service. Can you hear me?" The number they called from was (919) 307-2886.

- Cleveland, OH, USA

After saying hello, the woman's voice on the other end said her name was Emily from customer service. She then asked if I could hear her. After saying yes and then realizing what was happening, I hung up. She was starting to go on about a prize we won.

- Palm City, FL, USA

Received a call from someone claiming they were calling from a customer service department. As I was anticipating receiving a call or two from businesses in WI, I didn't even think and wasn't worried until they asked if they could hear me. I replied "Yeah, I can hear you just fine," only realizing my potential mistake after the fact when a pre-recording began about me winning a vacation of some kind. I then hung up.

- Bloomington, IN, USA

Called pretending to be generic customer service, swiftly turned into "can you hear me now" scam

- Saint Louis, MO, USA

A man's voice asked if I could hear him okay and once I said "yeah", he went on telling me about how I'm eligible to win a free vacation. I hung up at that point, but probably too late. I believe they just wanted to record me saying "yes" so they can use it against me for future charges.

- Pana, IL, USA

I received a call "This is Josh from Customer Service. Can you hear me." I replied, "Yes," and then immediately remembered the scam. I hung up. As I was hanging up the recording was still speaking.

- Cary, NC, USA

"This is Josh with customer service. Can you hear me?"

I hung up without answering his question.

- Sunnyvale, CA, USA

Caller identified himself as being with a government agency. Stated he was on a recorded line. Then asked if I could hear him. I answered "yes" and he hung up.

I am suspicious that it was one of the spam calls designed to capture my voice saying the word " yes".

I called back the caller's number and captured the website and name of caller as identified on phone.

- Oxford, MI, USA

Got a call from 248-731-5865 asking if I "can hear me okay" - hung up and contacted you

- Macomb, MI, USA

Seems like one of the "yes"/"one word" phone scams happening currently in Michigan. A man called from "customer service" informing me I won a trip. I asked "Where are you from?" Then, what then seemed to be a recording continued and asked if I could "hear them", and I said "No, have a great day." And hung up. Shortly afterwards, I heard about this new scam and called the sheriff's non emergency number. They said there was nothing they could do, so I will be monitoring all my accounts closely.
