CURA Healthcare Pvt. Ltd. Reports & Reviews (1)

I applied for a job through ZipRecruiter for an Administrative Assistant position at TMP Worldwide Inc. in Augusta. I received an email response from a Mr. Eric Dickson claiming to be the hiring manager for CURA Healthcare Pvt. Ltd. He asked me to be online the following day for an online interview through Google Hangouts, which I did. The interview was very in depth and sounded fairly legitimate, although I was very skeptical due to all of the online scamming in the news recently. The following is a copy/paste of the email from Mr. Dickson.

During the interview, I was told that I had the job and it would be working from home at the beginning at $30 per hour with benefits. I would set up a home office with software that I had to purchase from a place of their choice, etc. He said I would receive an offer letter that I would need to send back with my signature and a copy of my license. After the interview, he had me check in every day at 9:00 a.m. for an update at Google Hangouts. I did receive the letter and did sign it and return it with a copy of my license, which I wish I hadn't done. I have attached a copy of the letter that was sent to me. Below is the email that came with the letter from a Ms. Lisa Walker, claiming to be a consultant for CURA.

Best Regards

I did receive a check yesterday (12-1-16) in the amount of $3,920 from Moynihan Lumber of Beverly, Inc in Beverly, MA from Citizens Bank. I thought that was very odd to get a check from them in this amount to set up an office for CURA Healthcare so I looked up the website and called them. I spoke with a Mr. Ken Lord who said that this was definitely a scam. They have had trouble in the past but it had quieted down and is apparently starting up again. He said that another person had tried to cash a check for the same amount a few days earlier and that he was going to report this and that he may need to contact me again in the future regarding this.

I am really surprised that someone would go to such lengths to scam someone. I sent the scammer (Mr. Eric Dickson or whoever this person is) a message on Google Hangouts to alert him that I was aware of the scam and have not heard anything back. I am somewhat concerned that I provided a copy of my license. Please advise if there is any action I should take at this point to ensure that I am not a victim of identify theft.

Thank you for your time.

Sincerely,
