I replied to an ad on Craigslist for an apartment. After talking to the guy and going back and forth, I was sent a rental agreement that seemed pretty standard. I asked for more proof of the ownership of the apartment and received a video tour to prove the legitimacy of the apartment. I was asked for a refundable deposit of $500 to reserve the apartment, which I agreed to send. However, after I sent the initial $500 I was told that I would need to send an additional $500 to reserve the apartment. I refused to send any more money, and they offered to send me a refund of my initial $500. I accepted that offer, but then was told that they had a "minimum withdrawal limit of $1000" on their company account. So if I wanted my refund, I would need to give them an additional $500 and then they would (allegedly) give me a total refund of $1000. I told them under no circumstances would I send them any more money. They insisted on "company policy" and said they couldn't give me a refund. I asked them repeatedly for my refund, and they continued to refuse so I informed them I would be reporting them to the proper authorities.
