I got a random call last week (Friday) about a supposed debt I had for a repossession of my old car back in 2009. I had paid off a settlement for it a few years later, and have never had to worry about it until this recent call. I asked that they send me some credentials to confirm that this was a legitimate claim. Today (Wednesday), I received an email using a DocuSign attachment for me to give them money. The due date was for today. No links to the company, nothing turned up with a Google search, and the area code was from San Jose (even though the body of the DocuSign attachment said they were on the East Coast). The number I called resulted in a voice mail message, which was the same voice as the person who called me last Friday.
