I am a licensed mental health professional and the owner of a private practice. I was contacted by two individuals stating they were calling from "Change Healthcare on behalf of Ambetter Insurance." They stated that they were contracted with Ambetter to audit my client records for a "risk adjustment review." They then requested information about how I run my practice and kept my client records. The questions seemed odd so I terminated the phone call. They followed up by sending an email with a link to a drop box and requested that I upload client records for their review. Because of HIPAA and the protection of PHI, I contacted Ambetter to verify that this was a legitimate request. Ambetter stated they have no knowledge of this company. I am extremely concerned about the violation of privacy that could have occurred under these false pretenses.
