Scammed into giving out social security number (I was under the impression my SSN would be encrypted) and other personal identification information such as front/back of driver’s license, address, etc. The scammer identified themselves as “Craig White” a realtor from California offering a remote personal assistance job. I was contacted via text message; however, the scammer used the email account [email protected] to text through so I was not given a fake phone number (the scammer did claim the information used on the real Craig White’s website and sent a link to me) I have spoken to the real Craig White and was informed this has been an ongoing scam. I also filled out an “application“ through Jotform which is where my SSN was asked for and the scammers attempted to have me use ID.me + IRS to verify the “company email” assigned to me which I do not have access so I declined to proceed any further until they verified they were the real Craig White to which they replied they would contact me shortly via the phone number or website listed on the real Craig White’s website. I have not had a reply from them since. This was a 2 day interaction and I have screenshots of the text exchange if necessary.
