Type of a scam Employment
After I replied to this message, assuming that Reeves had contacted me from my indeed job search, I was then emailed by [email protected]/706-801-9412. I was sent a real tax form to fill out, which gave the scammer access to my social security number. I was also told I needed to send them a picture of my driver's license to complete the application process, so I did that as well.
Kelly Thomas, my new supervisor, also informed me that they could do direct deposit. I preferred this option to my paycheck getting lost in the mail, so I gave her my account and routing number.
I was supposed to receive packages in the mail, inspect them for quality, and then reship them to a new location. I found it odd that I was not supposed to open the packages, but they were all flat enveloped that contained obvious jewelry (not drugs). This eased my suspicions at the time, but I now believe that the merchandise might have been stolen.
The "job" had me do writing assignments since I was in training about postal services or helping find merchandise to purchase for customers to purchase. I was offered a promotion to Order Management Specialist. I was told I would be moving departments, given a pay increase, and helping customers search the internet for items that they wanted to purchase. This was all before my first paycheck was supposed to come in.
The job wanted me to open a small business account to handle the customer money and place orders. I did not do this, but the scammer started the business Ping Gao LLC in my name. I had a time limit to open the account, but I did not want to pay money out of pocket, especially when this "job" had yet to pay me. I have sense been locked out of my employee portal and have not been able to contact my supposed employer since.
