I received two phone calls from different numbers about this. The first asked for my business partner and the second just asked to speak to a "manager or decision maker". They didn't initially introduce themselves and I had to press them for details about why they were calling. The first called hung up after I said we had received a PPP loan last year, which had helped keep us afloat and now our business was doing better. The second stayed on the phone for longer. When I asked for their website she had to look it up and gave me the wrong URL initially, having to correct herself. The website is pretty well designed with friendly stock photos, but does not include any of the standard non-profit disclaimer messaging I expect to see when donating to a legitimate 501c(3). The numbers I received calls from were not the one listed on their site. The first was (855) 391-1286, the second (747) 205-0642. I tried looking them up on the IRS Tax Exempt Organization Search and didn't get any results. We did not continue the conversation long enough for there to be a solicitation for money. Part of me wishes I'd played along a bit longer to see if she would ask. I am reporting this because I'm concerned that someone less experienced with dealing with this sort of thing would be duped.
