Via Facebook marketplace I was contacted about an item for sell. Asked how I would accept payment and I chose Zelle. He asked for my email address and I received a screenshot via messenger for the payment. I say I didn't see the payment in my account. Then I received a screenshot of an email from zelle saying I needed to upgrade my account to business. He asks me to check my email and it's the same. So he says I'll send the 300 asked to upgrade if he can trust me to send it back. I got another email stating to refund the 300 and that would release the 1200 for the purchase price. I blindly send it because it's zelle. Then I get another email saying I needed 500 more. So he says zelle already took the 500 out of his account. I state I hadn't received anything and I didn't have 500 to refund. Long story short I got scammed for 300 and zelle neither my bank could offer any compensation. I later found the same profile on Instagram and that person, speaking Portuguese stated his account was hacked and he was very sorry I had been scammed.??
