Consumer Protection Bureau Imposter Reports & Reviews (7)

I received a call from, compliance officer Bob Mitchell with the Consumer Protection Bureau. He said that I received a letter on December 23rd, 2023 from, Good Housekeeping themselves advising me that I had won 750,000 dollars. He asked what I would do with this, whether I wanted to claim it. I told him of course I would if it was legitimate. He said that this was more than legitimate. He gave me a Ref/Claim number: GHK1703, then gave me the phone number to Good Housekeeping, 866-416-1157. He then gave me a phone number, 332-455-7224, which was directly to him and was the same as the caller ID.
I did not call this number. I looked up the phone number on Google and saw all that was noted here. I am glad I did. Everyone, please be careful!

I received a phone call last week from Consumer Protection Bureau. They called from 202-864-0285. Caller was Michael Kennedy. It was a First American Sweepstakes. He said I won $750,000. I needed to pay one percent. $7500. They are sending an agent from California to deliver a check to my house. He told me to get a certified bank check. I am guessing it is a scam. I paid no money. They kind of talked me into it. They also gave me a Federal Credit Union Jim Forbes. in San Francisco. Phone number 415-363-0167. He gave me an agent to call to send the money to. Margaret Seldon. Her address is 12413 Ronald Beall Rd. Upper Marlboro MD 20774 I do not have her phone number. I did not send any money. They have been hounding me for a few day. I thought you should not have to pay money to get money. I did not send any money.

Phone call message to call them back at 571-363-4291. I called. A person called back saying he was officer Steven Grossman with the Consumer Protection Bureau. He said I needed to put some upfront money to insure I would pay the taxes on the $750,000 I had won. I needed to call 866-978-4777 and speak with the people whose sweep steak this was. I took that information but did not call. Shortly another "officer" from the Consumer Protection Bureau called to ask if I had questions about the previous call. I told him I thought it was a scam.
