Consumer Financial Protection Bureau Imposter Reports & Reviews (1)

- Rocky River, OH, USA • Mar 04, 2024

On Feb. 28, 2024, I received a call from someone claiming to be an employee of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) to let me know that there were attempts made to either open a credit card account using my info and that someone had made a phone call to one of my credit cards to make a payment that I never authorized. After speaking to this person and 2 of his colleagues who also work for this employer, I was pressured to consider enrolling in a settlement debt relief program where CFPB would eliminate 50% of the debt on 2 of my credit cards but would still responsible for paying the remaining 50% at 0% interest with no minimum payment and an open payment schedule. I told these individuals that I did not want to do this and made it clear I would not sign up for this assistance. I then ended the phone conversation which lasted about an hour.
