sent a fax to my company, claiming to be corresponding from a Canadian law firm that has an unclaimed life insurance policy for a relative of the company's owner. They claim that the policyholder died in a car crash years ago and no relatives had been found for this person. Therefore, there is an unclaimed sum of $11,030,00.00 in the account. They continue to suggest that they could add the owner's name to the policy, as they share the same nationality and last name, and then split the money between them. They suggested that 10% go to "charities" and the remaining 90% "shared between" them. Finally, they suggest that it's "100% risk-free" and that they have all the "necessary documents to expedite the process" and that it should be strictly confidential. However, there is no record of such company outside of the website. Additionally, the individual whose contact information is included does not match the person on the website; the website states they have a partner by the name of 'Andreea' B*****, whereas the fax and email address were labeled 'Andrea'. Furthermore, a Google search proved that there are many similar scams from made-up law firms claiming to have unclaimed policy money to distribute.
