I received a call last week collecting on a Pay Day loan. I feel I do not owe the amount. $625.99 settlement. Date of loan 5-9-13. I did not take out a loan at that time. I requested this in writing. They refused and E mailed it instead. They said that most people pay by pre paid visa or master card. I said I am not giving out any information. I sent no money. I wanted to report the call. I saved the E mail.

The "collections" company first contacted me and left a voicemail about a complaint being filed against me. I contacted back and was informed it was in regards to a debt that was owed from 2013. They had all my information- previous address, bank account, ssn. After requesting for documentation to confirm who they were, they refused and told me they could not provide me paperwork because something was sent 14 times. After being contacted every single day, I was constantly requesting some type of proof to request payment. Then I got an call that was an automated message stating they are now going to come to my current job and address to summon me, that I commited bank fraud and breach of contract. I held on the line then it connected me with someone. She still stuck with no paperwork could be sent to me, and that I needed to get a lawyer and get ready for court. After arguing with her for 15 minutes, I eventually fell for the scam and made a payment of about $329.66. After not receiving a recpeit via e-mail as promised I got concerned. I contacted the *** *** headquarters who informed me it sounded like a scam and they violated the law by harassing and threatening me. I was told my information was sold back in 2014. Somehow it got in the hands of a scammer. Beware! Do not fall for the threats and accusations. Know your rights and review the Fair Debt Collections Practices Act.
