I received a message from Facebook messenger as if it were written by one of my friends. It had her picture and began with what would have been a typical message to me. I initiated this conversation based upon the information that I thought my friend was giving to me. I communicated through text using the number above. When the person texted that I needed to go immediately to purchase a $1500 gift card for ebay from a CVS or Walgreen, I began to become suspicious. I had hints before that but kept telling myself that my friend would not have connected me with this person had there been an issue. Tell-tale signs should have been that the person responded at night (could have been a different time zone) and there were some errors (everyone makes them when texting). The most obvious concern that I should have had was that texting was used and that I would have my money in 24 hours. I even messaged my friend back that this sounds too good to be true. I told the person I was no longer interested once the request for an ebay gift card came. I was still being pressured but insisted I was no longer interested. This is a pretty elaborate scam which started with Facebook messenger and a picture of my friend with the first message and ended with reasons why I needed to purchase a gift card. Those reasons were as follows and are verbatim:

1.It's for the security and safety of your delivery.

2.It exempts you from paying no more tax to the government when you got the money delivered to you.

3.You won't be questioned by the authorities on how you got such amount of money we'll provide you a document that will shield you from all this. Hope you understand us now, Listen we're not here to harm or hurt anyone many winners have claimed and got their winning money delivered to them without any further delay...
