Scammer called pretending they were responding to a tech support call I made to Xfinity regarding my Internet - stating they had received error messages from my modem and they wanted to check my internet to resolve the slow response time I was experiencing. The person gave me his number of 717-412-1686 and to google that he was legitmately representing Comcast Internet Service (which is now Xfinity in Michigan.) and the number was listed on "Google". He asked could he take control of my computer and I allowed him to do so, as he ran different commands to verify my issues. After he stated he had discovered why my system was running so slow and/or shutting down intermittently he then stated "hackers" had gotten into my information. He then wanted me to give him access and/or log into my banking account to place additional protection on my accounts as well as some of the other credit cards. I told him I was not comfortable with doing that and I wanted to verify with Xfinity that they did indeed have him to call me. He tried several times to convince me that he was legitimate and I kept refusing to give him the access. After about 30 minutes of going back and forth and him putting me on hold a couple of times, i told him I was not going any further with the conversation and he hung up. I logged off my computer and shut it down. Have not heard anything more from this person.
