I received multiple voicemails informing me about a 50% discount being offered by Comcast Xfinity. I finally decided to return the call to learn more and was told that the promotion was made possible by sponsorship from Target. I did not give any information other than my first and last name. The person on the phone had all of my account information, was able to zero any balance due on my account in real time as I watched from my app. To pay for the promotion you had to use a Target credit card or gift card since Target was sponsoring. I don’t have a Target credit card so I paid via a gift card. I was told I would receive an email confirmation and text confirmation with the account changes bringing my monthly bill to $40 a month for 3 years of which I paid for one year in full in order to save money as I am disabled. I never received a text or email so I logged into my account and could not see my payment reflected. So I utilized the chat feature in the Xfinity app to reach a customer service representative who called me. I informed them of the situation and they stated to me that they are aware of this scam and are not responsible for the breach of my data or my money. I asked to speak to a manager after the representative I was speaking to was not understanding or helpful. Of course no manager was available but I was told I would receive a call back but could not be informed as to when.

Today, less than 24 hours later I have received a text from (732) 702-6975, supposedly from Comcast Xfinity stating

Operational Time: (10 AM till 2 PM Pacific Time)

There is a problem with your Target payment.

Please call us back at 800-945-1733 to resolve the issue.

I am concerned for my personal security, privacy and financial safety. If Comcast has known this is happening then I as a customer should have received an email and a text notifying me so I didn’t fall victim. They need to be held responsible.
