This company contacted me via phone stating that they found my resume online and they have a open position available that I was qualified for, it seemed weird that they asked for my social security number and other personal information on the very first phone call but they actually set up an interview for me with the company they called me about so even though something was off about them I followed through and went to the interview as I was in need of employment. The company they sent me to was a legitimate company, the interview went well, so well they even fingerprinted me and took my picture for my ID. But this is where it gets weird, 5 weeks had went by and I still haven't heard anything from the recruiter one way or another about this position so I tried to contact the company and the first thing I noticed was my recruiter never would answer and when I got his voicemail(sometimes a voicemail did not come on)his name nor the company's name was on the voicemail, just this person can not be reached which struck me as odd, why wouldn't the company name or his name and title be listed on his voicemail? So at this point I started to investigate them myself on the internet and at first it all seemed very legit, the area codes and email addresses seemed to match, I thought perhaps I'm just being paranoid and I let it go for a few more days but it still bothered me that I hadn't heard anything and still had no response. This time I googled the companies locations and called several of them including the one that they were supposedly calling me from and to my surprise I was unable to reach a live person at any of the posted locations on their website, instead I got the same woman's voicemail for every location and every single department! This mailbox however did say the company's name and the woman's name but what's odd is no matter what selection I made recruitment, human resources, accounts payable, etc I got the same woman's mailbox and this happened when I called different locations in different states, so then I knew this is not possible, there should not be one person for every branch and every department. I went back online to see if anyone else had experienced this and I found this company all over the internet, people stating the same thing had happened to them and that it was in fact a scam. There were warnings that they were asking for social security numbers and not to give it to them. People even stated they were also sent to interviews with legit companies but after a lot of time went by they became concerned and tried to contact their recruiter and came to the same conclusion that I did. People also posted emails and phone numbers that matched exactly what I was sent, they all looked very legit. It was stated that they use the agency as a cover to steal people's identities and unfortunately for me, I did give them my information thinking this couldn't possibly be a scam seeing that I actually went to a legit interview, huge mistake.
