I am in the market for a loan and have bad credit. I was called out of the blue by someone with a thick accent that I was approved for $5000.00. I was told to stay by the phone because his account manager was going to call me in 20 minuets. After an hour I did receive a phone call from Alex who informed me that he was going to give me a “shot gun loan”. All I had to do was give him access to my direct deposit account at Wells Fargo and he would put $1,000.00 in today and I would give it back to him tomorrow then he would deposit $5,000.00 into my account. I would pay $117.96 for 48 months until paid off. So I agreed since all of the online loan companies I had visited previously asked for my routing and account number to direct deposit my loan into my account, I didn’t think it was strange. Then he asked if I had online banking I answered yes and he told me that was how he was going to be able to deposit the initial $1,000.00. I was stupid and could only imagine having all of my money problems cleared up with that $5,000.00 I was going to get the next day! So I gave Alex my username and password to my online banking account. I waited for the $1,000.00 to be deposited for over an hour and called Alex back several times. The original number I was contacted from was in Shreveport, LA and when I tried calling it back I got a message that it was no longer in service but they had called me from it twice 318-771-7234. I left Alex a message on his personal phone number that I had looked up shot gun loan and it said it was a scam and that I had changed my password to my online banking and forget about the loan since it sounded illegal and a scam that was going to cost me all the money I did have in my account. He tried calling me 3 times yesterday. I answered the first call and told him that I had reported it to my bank and my account number had been changed and so was my online banking password, there is also an active alert on the old account for any activity. He kept calling me and I kept ignoring the phone. I’m sure that this is a scam.
